What are Alamo's rental age requirements in North America?

 

Car rental age requirements

The minimum age requirement to rent a vehicle with Alamo is 21 years of age.

In Michigan and New York states, rentals are available to anyone aged under 21.

There are no maximum age limits in the United States and Canada.

 

Car rental rates & eligibility

When placing a booking online with Alamo its important you enter your age at time of rental pick up in order for us to show you vehicles you are eligible to rent.

We will also use the age you enter to provide you any additional charges that may apply if applicable.

Car rental rates may be higher for renters between the ages of 21 and 24.

Certain specialty and larger sized vehicles may not be rented to drivers under the age of 25.

 

Young Driver Fee

If you are between the ages of 21 and 24, a daily 'Young Renter Fee' may be applied to your rental.

The average cost of the fee per day will vary by rental location.

The primary renter and any additional drivers of the vehicle must be at least 25 years of age to avoid the fee.

Driving age limits in Michigan & New York states

In Michigan, the minimum age to rent is 18 years.

  • Drivers aged 18-20 years will be charged an additional 'Young Driver Fee' of $34.00 per day

  • Drivers aged 21-24 years will be charged an additional 'Young Driver Fee' of $13.00 per day

In New York State, the minimum age to rent is 18 years.

  • Drivers aged 18-20 years will be charged an additional 'Young Driver Fee' of $57.00 per day
  • Drivers aged 21-24 years will be charged an additional 'Young Driver Fee' of $20.00 per day
