Location Services

  • You can save time at the counter when you activate Accelerated Check-in online. Just provide your driver's license and contact information that are normally collected at pick-up and we will be ready when you arrive. You'll be on the road and on vacation before you know it!

  • After-hours Pick-up:

    Picking up your vehicle after the location closes is easy with Alamo. After-hours Pick-Up might require you to follow a few additional steps, which you'll see in your confirmation email.

    After-hours Return:

    Returning your vehicle after the location closes is easy with Alamo. We'll tell you where to park it; just drop the keys in the dropbox and you're on your way!

    Skip the rental counter lines and check in directly by using Alamo's touch-screen kiosk. Check-in using the kiosk and a receipt-sized rental agreement is printed. You'll be directed to your hire car on the lot. At the exit booth, show the booth agent your rental agreement and driving licence—and simply drive away.

    No need to visit the counter or kiosk. You can go straight to your car!

    In order to take advantage of this optional free service, you'll need to activate Accelerated Check-In online then choose the "Skip the Counter" option. You will be required to confirm your protection options, agree to the Rental Agreement Terms & Conditions and enter valid credit card details (there will be no charge until you return your vehicle). Simply print your rental agreement to bring with you, and you are all set! Go directly to your car, show the booth agent your rental agreement and driving licence—and get on the road!

Rental Policies

  • Additional drivers must meet all renter requirements. Additional drivers can be added to the contract at any rental branch. An additional charge is applicable for additional drivers.

  • After Hours Pickup is available. Additional service fees will apply.

  • All drivers must be at least 25 years of age to rent a vehicle. Renters 21 to 24 years of age may rent the car categories Mini, Compact, Intermediate, Standard and Full Size. There are no minimum age restrictions for any other car classes. The maximum age to rent a vehicle is 75 years.  A surcharge applies to renters between 21 and 24 years of age.

  • It is not permitted to drive a vehicle outside the islands of Malta and/or Gozo.

  • Delivery an Collection are available on request. Please contact the rental branch for further information. Additional charges for delivery and collection are applicable. 

  • Collision Damage Waiver with Theft Protection (CDWTP) reduces the excess in the event of damage or theft of the vehicle, when no responsible third party is identified. If CDWTP is not included in the reservation, it is available for purchase at the rental counter. If purchased or included in the reservation, the car categories Mini and Economy have a €1200 excess; Compact and Compact SUVs have a €1500 excess; for Intermediate SUVs, Premium, Luxury and Passenger Vans, the excess is €2000.
    Before purchasing CDWTP, it is advisable to determine if the renter's personal coverage is adequate to cover damage, theft, loss of revenue, administration fees, diminishment of value, and any towing, storage or impound fees. If CDWTP is declined, the renter will be required to pay these charges and seek compensation through their carrier of personal coverage. CDWTP is not insurance.

  • You will be required to return the vehicle with a level of fuel equal to the amount provided at the start of your rental as indicated on your rental agreement. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, you will be required to pay for the fuel needed to return the fuel level to that displayed on your rental agreement at the prices displayed at the branch. The missing fuel is charged at 2.00 EUR per litre in addition to an administration charge of 25 EUR VAT Incl.

  • All major credit cards (issued by either Visa, Mastercard or American Express) are accepted.

    Debit Cards, prepaid cards, cash, checks, Diners Club and Discover Card are not accepted.

    All cards presented must be in the renter's name.

    A security deposit of 500 EUR plus the estimated cost of the rental will be taken at the time of rental.

  • Roadside Assistance Protection (RAP) is an optional 24-hour emergency service including provision of a replacement vehicle in case of lost vehicle key, shipping of the key, on-site assistance in case of tire breakdowns, towing service, forced unlocking of the vehicle if the keys are locked inside, jump-start assistance, and refuelling service up to 5 litres. The renter pays a daily fee that covers all roadside assistance services. Before purchasing RAP, it is advised to determine if a personal coverage is adequate to cover these charges. If RAP is declined, the renter will be required to pay any applicable charges and seek compensation from the carrier of personal coverage. RAP is not insurance. 

  • All drivers must present a full valid driving license. If the driving license is written in a language and characters different to those of the country of rental, an International Driving Permit is also required. Renters are advised to check whether local authorities require foreign drivers to present an International Driving Permit to avoid the risk of potential fines. Renters with licenses from countries who are not part of the International Driving Permit Agreement should carry a certified translation.
    All renters must provide a valid identity card or passport.
    Non-EU licenses are valid for up to 6 months based on the date of the stamp in the renter’s passport. After six months, an EU issued driving license is legally required.
    Please note that we reserve the right to request additional ID or conduct further identification checks if needed which may include an identity check with an external  organisation.
    Visitors to Malta must also provide proof of return travel and accommodation information while in Malta.
    The driving license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 12 months before the date of the commencement of the rental.

  • Third Party Liability insurance is mandatory by law and included with all rental rates. Liability insurance covers per accident, personal injury or death and property damage up to a certain figure established by our insurers. Third Party insurance cover amounts are adjusted each year from the 1st of January. The liability insurance does not cover injury to the driver of the rental vehicle but third parties, passengers, are covered. It also does not cover the renter’s property or cover damages to a connected vehicle on the rental like a caravan or trailer.
