More Cities We Serve

The province of British Columbia is located on the west coast of Canada and having evolved from British possessions it has a number of historical links to Great Britain. The capital city of Victoria, for example, was named in honour of the British monarch who was in power when the original colony was created. Today, the province is recognised as a key trading point, rich in farming, mining and logging. It's also vastly popular with tourists who are drawn by winter sport opportunities provided by the subarctic climate in some parts of the province, or the urban delights of cities such as Vancouver.

Here are some things to see and do in British Columbia.

The Great Outdoors

With a subarctic climate and mountainous terrain in some areas, plus some of the world's most beautiful coastline, rivers, lakes and forests, it's not surprising that British Columbia attracts many people who enjoy the outdoors. The province is famous for being a great location for mountaineering, camping, hiking, hunting and fishing. There are numerous opportunities for the thrill-seeking traveller, such as sea kayaking or white-water rafting, while the less adventurous can enjoy walking or cycling around and taking in some of the most beautiful scenery the country has to offer.

Vancouver

The third-largest metropolitan city in Canada enjoys a reputation for being one of the top cities in the world for quality of life, and it's easy to see why. It's one of Canada's most ethnically diverse cities and this is reflected in a thriving arts, culture and restaurant scene. By day, there are numerous museums to explore, including the Vancouver Art Gallery and Museum of Anthropology. By night, visitors are drawn to the Granville Entertainment District to experience the best the city has to offer in terms of bars, clubs and restaurants.

Victoria

The capital of British Columbia is smaller than Vancouver but still has a lot to offer, and with the two cities only being around 100 kilometres apart, it is easy to drive between them by car. Originally developed as a British settlement in 1843, Victoria is one of the oldest cities in the Pacific Northwest and therefore boasts the sort historical features that a lot of North American cities lack. It's known as 'The Garden City' and a trip to Victoria would not be complete without a visit to Beacon Hill Park, home to playing fields, a petting zoo, stunning gardens and exotic wildlife. At the same time, its rugged but strikingly beautiful coastline means the city is also popular with boaters.
